Popular social commentator and activist, VeryDarkMan, has issued a passionate call to the Nigerian armed forces following a recent kidnapping incident involving a full commercial bus of passengers taken into the bush by suspected bandits. In a video update shared on social media, he disclosed new details about the harrowing event that occurred the previous day.
According to VeryDarkMan, the man who was earlier shot during the attack is now recovering. He expressed relief at the man's improving condition but emphasized the urgency of rescuing the other victims who remain in captivity. “One life is coming back, but many more are still out there,” he said.
The activist explained that the kidnappers hijacked a commercial vehicle filled with passengers and diverted them into a forested area. He highlighted the growing trend of such attacks and the devastating impact they continue to have on innocent citizens traveling within Nigeria.
VeryDarkMan used the opportunity to directly call on the Nigerian Army and other security agencies to intervene swiftly. He noted that time is of the essence, as delay could result in further harm or even deaths of the kidnapped passengers. “These people need to be rescued now. We can't be watching lives get wasted every day,” he urged.
He criticized the Nigerian government for what he described as a lack of seriousness in tackling rampant insecurity across the country. According to him, kidnappings have become too frequent and normalized, with little to no accountability or follow-up from law enforcement.
Social media users have since flooded the comment section of his post, commending him for raising awareness about the incident and demanding swift action from relevant authorities. Many also expressed outrage at the growing insecurity, especially on highways.
Human rights groups have joined the call, urging the military to deploy personnel to the suspected forest area and conduct search-and-rescue operations. Some groups are also demanding technological support such as drones and surveillance to aid the operation.
This incident adds to a growing list of kidnappings in Nigeria, especially along major transport routes. Experts have consistently warned that failure to secure highways poses a serious threat to national stability and the economy.
VeryDarkMan concluded his message by vowing to continue speaking out until the kidnapped passengers are rescued. “This isn’t just content, this is a call for action. If we don’t talk, who will?” he said. The nation now waits to see what steps the authorities will take in response.
