Her death occurred on August 31, 2025, at approximately 6:30 a.m., following complications from injuries sustained in a tragic accident involving a Dangote Cement truck in Auchi, Edo State.
The accident took place on August 13, 2025, merely six days after Ruth's graduation from Auchi Polytechnic. Eyewitnesses reported that a Dangote Cement truck struck her near the institution, crushing her leg. Despite immediate medical attention, the severity of her injuries necessitated the amputation of her leg.
In the aftermath, Phyna took to social media to express her anguish and demand justice for her sister. She alleged that the company attempted to obscure the incident by removing the truck's license plates. Her outcry garnered widespread attention, with public figures like actress Kate Henshaw joining the call for accountability.
Responding to the incident, Dangote Group issued a statement expressing deep sorrow over Ruth's passing. The company affirmed that its officials and insurance partners had been supporting Ruth and her family since the accident, covering all medical expenses. They also stated that arrangements had been made to fly her abroad for advanced treatment, pending medical clearance.
